We've
always loved dogs, and our dogs always loved treats. The dog bakeries we've
tried had such cute cookies, but after two days, the cookies were rock hard
and wound up buried rather than eaten. We came up with a recipe that's all
natural but stays crunchy for weeks and never gets hard. Keep them in the
fridge to last longer or freeze them for up to 6 months. Friskaroo is a
combination of our dogs' names: Friskey and Reppin who we call Roo...but
it doesn't matter what you call her.

Reppin,
or Roo, is a full blooded border collie who was born deaf, that's why she's
white and doesn't care what you call her. At 8 weeks old, we rescued her
from euthanasia, which is typical for deaf dogs. Unlike the RCA Victrola
mascot, Nipper, who responded to his master's voice because the Victrola
had such a clear, exact sound, Reppin responds to no one's voice. She's
the opposite of Nipper...Reppin is "Nipper" backwards. Reppin
is a very smart girl, 11 years old, she knows sign language, loves traveling
and swimming, no matter how cold it is. Here she is on the beach wearing
her Doggles. |
| Friskey: Our
sweet, adorable Sheltie. We rescued him when he was 3 years old from a family
who had no time for him. He's extremely loyal, loves his dog walks, his
kitty, traveling everywhere with us, and just being home. Friskey is a cat
name, so we call him "Senor Friskey" to add a touch of sophistication.
Senor, as he is also known, is 12 and suffers from an enlarged heart in
his older years now. He is on a strict diet along with heart medication,
which is why he loves Friskaroo Treats: all natural, full of fiber and protein,
heart healthy flax seed oil, and peanut butter, which is his favorite. |
